RockWay works with the talented and experienced
independent publicist Rose Carrano, of Rose Carrano Public Relations,
to arrange readings for authors in their local area, as
well as in other areas where the authors might have family members, friends, and
in cities where other RockWay authors reside.
Because of the proven inefficacy of tremendously large author book tours,
and because of the physical and emotional strain it puts on authors, Ms. Carrano
concentrates on sending RockWay's authors to areas where their audiences will be
largest and most receptive, thus increasing their book sales and their name
recognition.
Ms. Carrano sets up radio & television interviews
in each area that the author visits. She arranges bookstore readings in as many
stores as
possible.
Some chain-bookstores, such as Barnes & Noble and Borders, will only
permit readings for "famous" authors, so it is very important for our authors to
establish friendly relationships with the managers, events directors, and staff
of all the bookstores in their areas. That way, the local bookstore, whether or
not it belongs to a chain, can more easily get permission from corporate
headquarters to allow the local author, and other RockWay authors, to do readings
or give talks in their bookstore.
